- Acclimatization
guidelines:
The acclimatization depends on geographic locations, interior
climate control and season of year. It is very important, at
least one week before
installing the wood flooring, to open the plastic cover, in order
to equalize its moisture to the environment.
-
Sub-floor concrete:
Must be flat, clean, dry, structurally sound, free of squeaks
and protruding nails. Tolerances should be flat to within 3/16” in
10’
(5mm in 3m) and should be leveled.
-
Rule of Thumb:
Scratch a nail across the top, if indentation appears as a consequence
of scratching, it means that the surface to work on, is a light-weight
concrete
area, in this case a nailed system installation is recommended.
Before moisture testing begins, the slab must be cured for a
minimum of 60 days.
Subfloor Moisture should be tested with Higrometer or fenophtalein
reactive (no more than 2,5%).
-
Nailed:
On Plywood or OSB underlay (if OSB is exposed to moisture, nail
holding power may be reduced) the direction must be across the
wood flooring
direction. A moisture barrier must be applied down the plywood
each time solid wood flooring is installed over concrete. Water
barrier 200 mic. Polyethilene film. It’s an easy one step
nail down installation. A professional nailer is necessary, fastening
every 12” and along the edges. Doing this, it is ready
for immediate use. |

Levels
Hardwood
flooring:
It is recommended for installing in
ground or upper levels. Do not install
in underground levels.
Engineered
flooring:
It
is adequate for installing
in underground levels
as they have greater
resistance to humidity
and temperature. |
